Packing for your Summer Holidays, the Perfect Way!

The sun is officially shining! Which means this is the perfect time for me to post this, so we can all get a little summer inspiration for this amazing weather!!
It won’t be long now, before thousands of Brits will be flocking overseas for a holiday in the sun, and who can blame them? A week or two on the golden sands of somewhere warm and sunny will always be preferred over our bleak, unpredictable climes, won’t it? Of course, not all of us will be lucky enough to get away this year, but if you are one of those who have bagged a fabulous deal, you’ll be thinking about what to pack in no time at all.
When it comes to packing your suitcase, there are better systems than others. Pulling everything off the hangers and throwing them all into the suitcase may be a tempting way of packing for your holidays, but if you want to make the most out of the space you have, there are certainly better ways to do it. Whether you’re looking at your maxi dress and wondering which sandals go with it, or you’re trying to narrow down your wardrobe so that you’re not slammed with unnecessary baggage fines, here are some great snippets of advice that will ensure your suitcase is packed, in the most effective way possible.

  • Check the baggage restrictions before you begin. Know exactly how much you’re allowed so that you’re not faced with a shock once you’re at the check-in desk. Different airlines operate different regulations, with some charging for suitcases regardless of how heavy they are, so make sure you know in advance!
  • Make sure that any liquids you put in your carry-on luggage are stored in a zipped up, plastic bag. It’s far easier to ensure this is all sorted before you’re going through security rather than having your bags rummaged through.
  • Don’t over pack. Make a list of what you’d like to take and try and economise. Use clothes that can be worn more than once, such as a maxi dress from George, or strappy vest tops that can be mixed and matched.
  • Make sure that your suitcase is distinguishable. Traveling without a luggage label would be silly, especially as airlines have a habit of mislaying suitcases. If you have a suitcase that is quite common in appearance, consider adding something personalised to it, so that you can spot it amongst the sea of bags on the conveyor belt with ease.
  • Roll your clothes if you’re not planning on ironing anything once you arrive at your destination. Not only will the garments be less creased, but you’ll also be able to fit more in your suitcase.
  • If you’re travelling with more than one suitcase, consider splitting your things so that essentially, you and your family are sharing each of your suitcases. That way, if you lose one bag, you don’t lose all of your belongings.
  • Double bag your toiletries, just in case the pressure of the aircraft causes anything to leak. Plastic containers can expand in the unpressurised hold, and you don’t want your things to get damaged!
  • Weigh your suitcase before you arrive at the airport – bathroom scales are ideal and can give you an inkling as to how heavy your suitcase is in advance.
Most of all, make the most out of your well-deserved break! Be sensible about how much you take and enjoy every second of the sunshine!

I’d love to know your summer holiday plans, where is everyone jetting off to? I need to find myself a super cheap holiday too, so any suggestions are welcome :)

Purple Crop Top - Look 1 of 3!

Look 1

Coat | Next (old)
Top | Primark £10
Grey wrap skirt | Topshop £18 (sale)
Knee high socks | George @ Asda
Chunky boot | Office £95
Scrunchie | Primark

This is one of my favourite most recent outfits! I absolutely love the colour combination of this outfit. I think the purple fluffy crop goes perfectly with the pale grey of this wrap skirt- just in love! I do actually have this top in three colours in total (couldn't resist)! They are a real bargain from Primark and look lovely paired with most things. I decided to style this pale purple one in three looks which will be appearing on my blog over the next week, so keep your eyes peeled and tell me which one you like best :)

Motel Cut Out & Faux Fur Jacket!

Top | Motel Rocks £25 (save 20% with code 'Staceycraig')
MOM Jeans | Topshop £40
Fur Coat | Minnie’s boutique - around £75 (old)
Chunky Boots | Office £95
Belt | Urban Outfitters £5 (sale)

I ordered this Motel cut out effect top quite a few weeks ago now but haven’t got round to wearing it until now, but can I add how beaut it is! The top definitely adds a bit of detail to any outfit that involves jeans. I love the cut out detailing on the top- when I saw it; I just had to buy it! I added some major texture to the outfit with this faux fur coat which I did in fact purchase from Minnie’s boutique a long while ago now – possibly even around two years ago. But I'm so glad I kept onto this fur piece now that faux fur is making a massive comeback!

I do apologise if I look like a major grump in these images, tends to happen quite often haha.

Also, don’t forget to save 20% on your MOTEL purchases by using the discount code ‘STACEYCRAIG’ at the checkout – you can thank me later for making you want everything on their site!

Shaggy Fur & Leather Trousers!

Leather Trousers | Topshop £18 (sale)
Jumper | Topshop £29
Fur Stole | River Island £15 (sale from £60)
Chunky Boots | Office £95

This fur stole was an ultimate sale find from the River Island sale back in January! My favourite pieces include a mix of textures, so leather and fur is definitely at the top of my go-to list. Imagine an addition of metallic (screams perfect!). This fur stole brings attention to any dull, all black outfit, so is definitely a key wardrobe staple for me.

These Topshop leather trousers are also a go-to item for me, since buying these I have most certainly “got my money’s worth”… I live in these! They make any boring looking outfit seem more dressed up, so you can just pair with heels, or chunky boots in my case, and you are ready to go! I couldn’t ask for a better pair of leathers- I also found these in the Topshop sale for just £18, so another bargain find! Admittedly, I’ve found myself looking more for bargains lately than wanting to splash out, although I can never resist the odd Topshop ‘new in’ piece.
What are your GO-TO pieces?
