Days Out with the Kids

With the summer holidays fast approaching, thoughts are turning to what to do with the children to keep them occupied for six weeks. Make a list of places you all fancy going in advance of the holidays to create a bit of excitement and anticipation about your days out. It will also help you to keep in mind what you need for each activity. Luckily the ASDA George clothing range is on hand to kit you out in whatever you need, whatever the weather, so if you need jeans, shorts, T shirts or hoodies, George is the place to go. So where should you head on your days out with the kids this summer? Take a look at a few suggestions below:

Catch a Ferry

Take a ferry to the Isle of Wight, Ireland, the Isle of Mann, or France and have fun exploring a little further afield. Perhaps combine your ferry trip with a holiday, or just explore for a few hours before returning home on the ferry again. The ferry makes it all the more fun and creates a bit of adventure.

Down on the Farm

Take the kids for a day out at the farm. There are simply hundreds of farms throughout the UK all offering something different to set them apart from the rest. You can enjoy milking time with the cows, tractor rides, collecting eggs from the chickens, bottle feeding baby goats and pony rides around the farm. Add to that some pretty spectacular play areas and you have a great day out that all the family will enjoy.

Some great farms to visit with the kids are Longdown Activity Farm in the New Forest where you can have fun getting hands on and meeting baby bunnies and chicks and bottle feeding the crazy baby goats, who push each other out of the way just to get to the bottles. Another great farm is Godstone Farm & Play Barn in Surrey. Hugely popular with families, you can interact with the animals, enjoy the tractor rides, play in the sandpits, get lost in the maze, build a den and burn off some energy in the indoor play area. Or, if you’re in the Midlands, try the Farm Park at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire for a fantastic adventure playground alongside cute animals.

Get Active

Kids who like a little action in their school holidays will love the activity centres like Go Ape. Here you can try your hand at segway on the special segway tracks throughout the forest, fly down a zip wire, and brave the Tarzan swings, the high ropes and the tree top obstacle course. There's so much to do that even the bravest child wont be able to help but be thrilled as they whoosh through the trees and crawl through tunnels up in the canopy.

Other great things to do during the holidays include taking classes together, perhaps learning a new language or to decorate cupcakes, visit the zoo or take a step back in time and follow in the footsteps of England's past Kings and Queens at a stately home or castle. There's so much to do during UK summers that you, and the kids, really will be spoiled for choice.
